Introduction
The characters in F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel do a great job of portraying exactly what the lives of upper-middle class citizens would have looked like. The 1920s era is one that has quickly become popular and almost epic in recreations done in the 2000s. The lifestyle, the dress, the lack of law abiding, and the extreme and extravagant parties are all real parts of the plot as well as the lives of those who lived in the roaring 20s. As you read in the novel, make note of how characters like Jay, Nick, Daisy, Myrtle, and Tom all portray these ideal characteristics of 1920s lifestyle.
